  Mario Lanza Museum Now Open


The Mario Lanza Museum formerly housed at the Settlement Music School, is now locatedon the first floor of Columbia House at 712 Montrose Street next to St Mary Magdalen dePazzi Church in South Philadelphia. The museum was officially dedicated the morning of November 3, 2002 immediately following the annual Mario Lanza Memorial Mass. A proclamation from Philadelphia Mayor John Street was read at the dedication in honor of "Mario Lanza Day" in the city. The museum is open from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00p.m. Monday through Saturday except Thursday when the museum will be closed. Admission is free and donations are accepted. If you are coming to Philadelphia and would like to visit the Mario Lanza Museum you may write us and we will send you detailed instructions on how to get the Museum, or you can call us if you prefer at 215-238-9691 Monday through Saturday from 11:00AM until 3:00 PM EST, (Closed Thursdays). An attendant on duty will take your name and address and send you the necessary information. 
If you are coming from out of town to visit the museum.  Please call us in advance and we will coordinate with you so that your trip. will not be in vain.  We might also be closed for any number of reasons.
The museum is several blocks south of Center City and the major hotels.  It would require about 30 minutes to walk from there.  Many people have walked stopping along the way to visit other South Philadelphia landmarks. Taxi cabs are available if you prefer to ride and all the drivers are familiar with schools location.
